Review of Game against tech A side
Play in the first half was scrappy and sloppy, but with Tech handling the messy conditions better and doing all of the scoring, with two unconverted tries and two penalty kicks to go into half time up 16-0. The Gades made some substitutions and played with more fire in the second half, coming back to score two tries (with U-20 back row player Pat Bergman finishing off a forwards push for the first try, and hooker Eric "Rhythm" Rogers getting the ball down right on the try line for the second score, on about a 10th phase ruck/pile-up, converted by fullback Adam Bazydlo) to get within striking distance of a come back at 16-12. Unfortunately the Gades couldn't put across another score, and in the last 5 or 10 minutes of the game Tech's scrumhalf made his third and fourth penalty kicks of the game (a fine kicking performance in such sloppy conditions) to put it out of reach, for the final score of 22-12.
